Analysis of the vehicle-bicycles interaction on two-lane rural roads using a driving simulator based on field data

چکیده

The presence of cyclists on Spanish two-lane rural roads is common, so they have to interact with motor vehicles. Due the speed differential and vulnerability cyclists, overtaking one most dangerous frequent interactions. Therefore, a minimum distance 1.5 m must be observed. manoeuvre depends road section cyclist group distribution. Interaction between vehicles has been characterized in past but groups barely studied. This study uses driving simulator analyse how their configuration affect traffic operation safety roads. A fixed adapted incorporate using lateral position obtained from field studies. Based data, physical scenario different scenarios recreated, volunteers can drive – emulating vehicle tracking speed, position, other variables. These results compared those observed for checking validity this methodology. offers some which are difficult obtain through methodologies, enabling better analysis phenomenon. By sorting bicycle patterns including several volunteers, impact pelotons performance characterized. will help offering recommendations integrate safer way.
